The program prepares future health services professionals in the administrative, analytic, behavioral and socio/cultural competencies necessary to work effectively in diverse and dynamic health services and community based organizations.
The program is designed to enable graduates to develop relevant, required knowledge in health and diseases, an appreciable understanding of issues relating to health promotion and disease prevention, and patient care. Furthermore graduates will be appropriately skilled to enhance the profession of healthcare with new, innovative and cost effective public health and health care services as well as developed awareness of the complexities and interrelationship between the political and health care environments. Graduates will have a thorough understanding of information technology exploitation, finance and related management techniques, organizational operations and functions, and the nature of the key role human resources play within healthcare organizations.
Students graduating from the Health Management program will be competent to have career opportunities in hospitals, clinics, health departments, medical insurance companies, and managed care organizations. Graduates of this program will be able to pursue management, supervisory, and executive positions in health care, business, or health care management. The combination of management skills, information technology awareness, and clinical knowledge enables graduates to contribute to the advancement of the healthcare system. Furthermore, graduates may pursue Masters and Doctoral degrees in the field of Health Management.
