The UAE’s strong leadership and its incorporation of the media industry into its ambitious plans for the nation’s growth have helped the country become a successful knowledge economy. Moreover, UAE’s fast-paced adoption of technology, has given the rise to new and digital media, scoring 27th in the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Index and reserving the 17th spot in the IMD World Digital Competitiveness report.

The media industry is a business model based on communicating information, art and entertainment to a large audience. It allows to hone your writing and editing skills, learn to use digital technology to reach and engage audiences around the globe, and gain perspective on the role of media in our society.

The Department of Mass Communication at KIC includes two Majors: Digital media and Public Relations.

Digital Media allows to learn techniques of impacting culture through creative arts. It involves digital, print and broadcast journalism, video, audio production and editing, Visual Communication and Web Design.

Public relations (Abu Dhabi Campus Only) specialization explores a different domain of Mass Communication. It includes writing news releases, working with the press, arranging interviews, writing speeches, acting as a spokesperson, and managing many forms of an organization’s communications, including crisis management and internal communications.

Admissions: Required Documents

  • Attested High Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent approved by the UAE Ministry of Education.
  • Obtain an Arabic language proficiency certificate (EMSAT) with a score not less than (1000).
  • A valid English Language Proficiency Certificate in one of the below certificates or its equivalent, at least as the following:
    • EmSAT : 950
    • TOEFL ITP (Amideast) : 450
    • IELTS : 4.5
