KIC BCSI club members attended a virtual roundtable discussion on ‘Discovering Circular Economy’, organized by Emirates Nature-WWF, to learn directly from industry key players about the business cases for sustainability.
BCSI-the newly formed club of the Business Administration Department, took the students of the class of International Perspective on Business to the virtual session to delve into the challenges and solutions for a circular economy in the UAE and a future, where people and nature thrive. Monir Salem Bou Ghanem, Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi, Priya Sarma, Unilever MENA, RUS, UKR, BEL, TUR, Dr. Sassan Dieter Khatib-Shahidi, German Imaging Technologies were the key speakers of the event. As a hands-on case study, students learned from Priya Sarma the head of sustainability, Unilever’s commitments to sustainability in the form of “less plastic, no plastic, better plastic” while addressing the challenges of business growth and shifts towards a circular economy.
The Business Club for Sustainability Initiatives (BCSI) was soft-launched on 16th April 2021, with a commitment to the well-being of both economic and ecological systems, envisioning a thriving local business ecosystem that underpins the triple bottle line approach that sustains local businesses, the larger human economy, and the planet. It is open to students of all majors with an interest in learning about sustainability and working on-campus projects.
