Although UAE authorities have warned of a second wave, a senior healthcare executive points out that it can be avoided if all of us comply with the authorities’ regulations and recommendations. This is why you are responsible.
The degree of your compliance directly affects how fast and far the virus can spread. Slowing the rate of spreading is as important as stopping the virus. You are responsible for stopping COVID-19.
As a refresher, here are the guidelines issued by the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention:
- Wear Mask in public areas.
- Wash your hands at least 20 seconds with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizers; it will kill the viruses.
- Maintain at least 1.5- 2 meters of physical/ social distance with others.
- Cover mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then discard the tissue properly and sanitize your hand.
- Avoid touching public surfaces if unnecessary (We humans will touch our face at least 20 times/hour)
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth when you are in public (Because, you will never know whether you touched a surface, infected by an asymptomatic carrier.)
- No handshakes, please!
- Avoid nose-to-nose greeting, hugging or kissing others.
- Avoid contact with animals (live or dead).
- Take enough rest, drink large amount of fluids, vitamin supplementation etc.
