Four of KIC BBA students, under the guidance of Dr Suja Pradeep, participated in Sustainability Action Project Workshop: ‘Youth as Advocates of Green Recovery’, organized by The Environment Agency- Abu Dhabi with the support of Borouge.
The SAP workshops aim to train the students and faculty members on steps and methods of conducting a Sustainability Action Project (SAP) and approach the community through different projects to achieve the set goals.
The training was offered by two Environment Education Consultants and UN experts, who also instructed the participants on methods of tackling the Sustainability Action Project at the campus level.
Further to their guidance, the BBA students, Faisal Alblooshi, Ali Almarzouqi , Heba Emam, and Khulood Alharthi, did a preliminary KAP (Knowledge Attitude Practices) survey among their peers and colleagues to identify the gaps and presented the results in the form of a Problem Tree Analysis, which was aligned with the SDG (Sustainable Development Goal) goal no 12, Responsible Consumption and Production.
After the four day workshop, our students and their faculty coordinator Dr Suja Pradeep submitted a proposal on Sustainability Action Project, themed around sustainable water consumption, which is in alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), goal no 6, and other UAE national priorities such as the UAE Water Conservation Strategy, the UAE Energy and Water Demand-side Management Program, The Water Security Strategy 2036, etc.
In the framework of the SAP project, KIC students will be visiting villas, residential complexes, small businesses, and other premises to nudge the community to reduce water consumption and lead a sustainable lifestyle.
