Student Affairs department has organized the first online orientation session for Spring 20/21 semester to formally greet new students, aiming to provide a proper induction and ensure a smooth academic and social journey at the college.
KIC President, Dr. Assem Al-Hajj, welcomed the students and introduced them to KIC, its legacy, and related key developments. The president pointed out that Spring 20/21 will follow a Blended Learning format, whereby practical classes will be delivered on campus in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, and theory will be delivered online. He noted that the successful blended learning experience is enabled by tools that adhere to the international standards, such as Blackboard Open LMS, Blue Explorance, Labster Simulator, AI, and People Soft Campus Solutions Student Information System.
As KIC went through a transformative period, addressing contemporary challenges and community needs, Dr. Al-Hajj urged the students to embrace the transformation themselves, celebrate diversity, acquire new skills, meet new people and build new networks, regardless of the odds.
Dr Hani Sleem, Head of Student Affairs department, and Mr. Hani Al-Chalabi, General Education Program Coordinator, led the webinar by providing academic orientation and in-depth guidance on advising services and procedures. Students got the chance to meet various faculty and staff during the orientation
KIC IT Services Department, represented by Mr. Abdallah Esmat, provided a tutorial on the usage of digital essentials. Covered topics included Blackboard Open LMS and other eServices.
In addition to that, students got introduced to administrative services, student council, social clubs, and health and safety guidelines.
