On 18 February 2021, the Health and Medical Sciences department launched the First Academic Club of KIC – the Respiratory Care Academic Club. The inaugural ceremony was presided by KIC President Dr. Assem Al Hajj and VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Nabil.
Respiratory Care Academic Club aims to accomplish several key objectives that are related to students’ development. The club members will enjoy the benefits of learning outside the classroom. enhance teamwork skills, promote knowledge sharing, nurture research, and interact with clinical respiratory care practitioners. Above all, the club aims to enhance and develop students’ personalities.
Considering these objectives, the club will host various activities. These will include weekly quizzes, presentations by club members, journal and clinical case discussions, debates, games, research, skill stations, and many more. On a semester basis, the members will provide club performance evaluation and distribute rewards to those members who excelled at the activities.
The very first activity was conducted during the opening ceremony. The club members elected Ms. Marielle Baculo as the RC Academic Club President and Ms. Dalia Abdou as the Vice President. The club has been divided into five teams, with each team having its own scope and team lead.
“The club aims at overall personality development of the students, and to prepare them as future healthcare leaders. All the activities of the club will strictly adhere to all the COVID-19 infection control guidelines”, said Ms. Chris Mathew, Respiratory Care Lecturer, who is coordinating the RC Academic Club.
