Challenges, disruptive circumstances, and context are usually a motivator and a creativity booster for excellence and outstanding performance.
COVID-19 obliged everyone to stay at home but it did not, and it will not stop KIC from connecting with its students and perusing the amazing Teaching-Learning Experience. KIC adopted rapidly a comprehensive Digital Teaching-Learning Policy allowing it to react in an agile way to the current situation and to assure the delivery of continuous education.
KIC’s first-week implementation of its online delivery was successful, with 472 online sessions accommodating more than 7,989 seats. Simultaneous sessions with time slots between 11 AM to 9 PM, as well as varying from 2-3 to 94 parallel sessions ran as per the regular schedule. The number of students connected in parallel reached 620, with a minimum of 20 students in a session.
Big applause to our students, for their commitment and maturity as the daily cumulative attendance rate cross campuses varied from 65% to 100%, where the majority of the sessions had an attendance rate from 75% to 95%.
KIC, and with a well-exposed and internationally experienced academic team, used appropriate technologies such as Moodle, GoogleMeet, and Zoom to deliver fully interactive sessions, where screen-sharing, video streaming, and audio conversations in any session are possible. The student survey from the third day of online delivery showed remarkable results of student experience in terms of interactivity with a rate varying from 40% to 95%, where the majority of the sessions had 75% to 85% of students who were engaged and actively participating.
These results convey a very interesting and motivating experience for both the Academic Staff/ Faculty Members and Students. 80% of the KIC Faculty Members agreed that the experience allowed them to deliver online lectures as efficient as on campus. 89% of the Faculty Members confirmed that their students did not face major difficulty and that their students were able to engage properly on the same.
Even for medical programs, where practical aspects and simulations are needed, 85% of the Faculty Members agreed on the fact that the sessions were effective and that students were engaged very positively. More than 90% of the Faculty Members confirmed that they were able to achieve the expected course outcomes during the sessions.
75-85% of the surveyed students noticed a better adaptation and a smoother session delivery throughout the days of their first-week experience, 83% of them believed that everything is fine with the distant learning and almost 90% confirmed that they enjoyed online sessions and delivery mode. 85% of the surveyed students confirmed that they are having adequate guidance, information and support on using online technologies and sessions. 75-80% of the students were satisfied with the acquired knowledge through the online experience, and 65 to 75% of the surveyed students appreciated the effectiveness of the used activities during the online sessions.
Together we Connect, we Learn, we Enjoy; and together we continue engaging with the KIC Smart Platform.
